I’m Still Alive

For those of you that haven’t heard from me a while, I’m still alive. How are you? But anyways I’m still in school (haven’t dropped out….yet) and I am definitely ready for the Thanksgiving Break. School is going swell cuz I just got a 91 and 100% on my last two tests. So now I have some papers to write and stuff. But fortunately, Basketball season has started and BYU hasn’t lost yet so I can take a break from school to watch games and stuff. Nevertheless, I’m staying busy and stuff (sorry for all of the “and stuff”-s). Here’s some pictures of the Jack O’ Lantern I carved for Halloween. I did some of it at Josh’s house then I came home and put on the finishing touches. Oh yeah, and I’m stoked for the BYU-Utah football game this Saturday. Rah, rah, rah-rah-rah, goooooo Cougars!

PS- I’m working on putting up some of my animations I made in school last block of the semester. I’ll see what I can do there. And Happy Birthday to Josh and Melissa. Can’t wait for baby Elsie!

Are you ready for some football?!

Here’s how we celebrated opening day of the pro football season (and I’m not counting that one game that was out of the country). Nothing like a game of tackle in the front yard. It’s always me and Ashlee against Nicholas. Nick holds his own pretty good, and Ashlee usually has to be reminded which end zone she should run to.

NFL Opening Day

Make sure you read Becky’s post about this evening if you haven’t already.

Ashlee Starts School

OK, I’ve finally sat down and have begun to attempt to get somewhat caught up. I’ve pretty much given up keeping up with Becky, she’s going to attain ‘professional’ blogger status any day now. Make sure you’re visiting her site often as she’s doing a great job of capturing our comings and goings.

Here are the long awaited pictures from Ashlee and Nick’s first day of school this year.

First Day of School 2007

Ashlee started Kindergarten, she goes a full day every day of the week, just like ‘real’ school. Nick started 3rd grade and is in a split class where half are 3rd graders and half are 4th graders. We think it’s working out really well for him even though only one of his friends is in the same class as he is this year.

So there’s a start, hopefully at least a couple more posts before the weekend is over.

Can’t catch up

OK, so I’ve really been hammered this semester. I don’t really know why but I have just been way too busy since Fall rolled around. Not to fear though because Becky has been going in overdrive on her blog. So, make sure you bookmark her site and visit there more often than here because she’s done a ton of updates lately. So, enjoy while I try and catch up with all the posts that I’m behind.

Peace out!

San Diego in Fire

Just a quick update everybody, I was evacuated at about 5:30am this morning due to the wildfires here in San Diego. As of 10am PT, one fire is about 2 miles directly north of my apartment building and moving quickly south. Conditions are just now allowing aircraft in the area to fight the fires or at least maintain some kind of perimeter. I’m safely at work and have offers to stay at other employee’s homes if needed. They’ve asked us to stay off our cell phones, but you can call me at work 858-650-6042. I’ll call Dad thoughout the day just to check in. So everybody pray the winds change and move back northward!
Love you all!
Melissa

SNOW! In October!

Since none of you could possibly have been watching the game yesterday, I’ll try to paint you a picture with words. And with pictures.

Imagine it being cloudy and cold at the beginning of the game, but then the sun comes out, and you think things are going pretty well. Then it gets cloudy again, but, you know, it’s not too bad. Then it starts to rain, and it’s pretty cold, but still. And then the snow starts to come down. And it keeps coming and coming. Imagine a fourth quarter that looks something like this:

BYU-EWU Snow1BYU-EWU Snow2BYU-EWU Snow3BYU-EWU Snow4

I haven’t watched the game yet, but the replay board was useless; you couldn’t see a thing on it. And you couldn’t see any lines on the field. It was pretty crazy. But at least we won!

Christmas Gift Exchange

OK, so I’ve been meaning to post this for a while but I’m a slacker. For those who can’t remember whom they drew for Christmas, here’s the list:

Jere has Matt
Becky has Trish
Melissa has Becky
Justin has Will
Laurie has Chris
Will has Melissa
Tish has Josh
Catherine has Leah
Chris has Laurie
Leah has Jere
Josh has Catherine
Andrea has Justin
Matthew has Andrea

Remember there’s a $20 limit. Happy Christmas shopping!

Return on my investment

So, being the fully invested-in-BYU Football kind of fans that we are, we went to a car dealership in Orem for KSL’s Bronco Mendenhall show.  We went partly for the show, and partly for the free hamburgers and hot dogs.

In any case, there were also drawings to enter; for DVD’s, and a signed jersey, and for an iPod nano. The actual drawing was after the show, and you had to be there in order to win, so some of the names drawn weren’t there and they drew more. And so, the iPod was the last thing drawn, and who’s name should Greg Wrubell call out? Mine!

So, I’m the proud new owner of a silver iPod nano. And life is sweet.
