Orchestra Night is usually really long as each middle school and high school in the district gets to perform at Hill Auditorium on the University of Michigan campus. We thought we were out of the woods having to attend when Ashlee graduated from middle school as only the symphony orchestras from each high school perform. Then Ashlee decided to audition for symphony and made it. So we’ve got three more Orchestra Nights to go. Here’s this week’s performance, Skyline was the last orchestra of the night.
The Symphony Orchestra and the A Cappella Choir performed selections from The Messiah. Fair warning, they played for 52 minutes straight. It was pretty cool.
Combined concert for Skyline Symphony Orchestra, Saline Chamber Orchestra, and Dexter Community Orchestra.
The Skyline musicians had the opportunity to travel down the road to Forsythe Middle School to perform a side by side concert with them. This is probably the last concert Nick will play in for his high school career. It may also be the last time for a while that Nick and Ashlee play together. :(
This is Nick’s last time playing in the Skyline Auditorium.
Also, Ashlee auditioned to move from the concert orchestra into the symphony orchestra starting next year and we recently found out that she made it! She was practicing hard for many weeks to do well at her audition and her hard work paid off. We’re excited for her!

Nick and Ashlee’s District performances. There was also a sight reading session as well which we couldn’t record. Their orchestra scored a 1 for the competition which means they qualify to compete at the State festival in May.
