Calling All Spidey Fans-

This is the moment you’ve been waiting for!
Casting for several roles for the new Broadway musical Spider-Man (featuring music by Bono and The Edge) will take place in NYC on July 28. So all you boys and girls who can sing and have ever wanted to get paid for playing Spidey or Mary Jane, now’s your chance! Just be prepared to sing 16 bars or a pop/rock song that shows your singing range.
Seriously, I’m not making this up. Auditions will be held from 10a-5p at The Knitting Factory, 74 Leonard Street, NYC, NY.
Break a leg Jere!

San Diego in Fire

Just a quick update everybody, I was evacuated at about 5:30am this morning due to the wildfires here in San Diego. As of 10am PT, one fire is about 2 miles directly north of my apartment building and moving quickly south. Conditions are just now allowing aircraft in the area to fight the fires or at least maintain some kind of perimeter. I’m safely at work and have offers to stay at other employee’s homes if needed. They’ve asked us to stay off our cell phones, but you can call me at work 858-650-6042. I’ll call Dad thoughout the day just to check in. So everybody pray the winds change and move back northward!
Love you all!
Melissa

Greetings from Sunny San Diego!

Well, I made it here safely late Saturday afternoon and am staying near the Chargers stadium (about ten minutes northeast of downtown) at the Homestead Suites. However, I hope to find a place soon. I’m looking in a neighborhood called Rancho Penasquitos – it’s in North County and about 10 minutes from work. You can’t see the ocean from where I am, but it’s only 10 minutes away. Everything is rolling hills and valleys here, so when driving, you’re either going up or down a hill – there aren’t many flat places. Work is going great so far, and everyone is very friendly. Better yet, I already feel appreciated!

I’ll update you all as soon as I find a place to live.

Love,

Melissa

Free Slurpees for Justin’s Birthday!

In honor of Justin’s birthday, I’m treating everyone to free Squishees, er, I mean Slurpees!!

Actually, this year, 7-Eleven is celebrating its 80th anniversary by following the tradition of offering consumers free 7.11-ounce Slurpee drinks for free. Birthday cups will be available as well. The past few years, 7-Eleven has been giving away free Slurpees on 7/11 but this year they’re doing more.

A news release sent out this week promotes the chain’s birthday, noting that a loaf of bread cost 9 cents, a gallon of milk was 56 cents, a dozen eggs cost 46 cents, and ice was sold in blocks rather than bags when 7-Eleven opened its doors in 1927–little more than an ice dock.

$20 to the person who can visit at least 7 or more 7-Elevens AND finish all the Slurpees!

Happy Birthday Justin!!

Christmas Gift Exchange

OK, I was talking to Chris and we realized we hadn’t drawn names yet for Christmas. He mentioned everyone else was probably waiting for me to do it. Whether that’s true or not, I took the initiative – I had a few minutes to kill before the end of the day. So here’s a reminder – the limit is $20 and no one gets their spouse. I couldn’t find last year’s list, so I don’t know if anyone drew the same person as last year. If you did, then I apologize and please feel free to swap with someone.

The following is the list of who drew whom:

Jere has Melissa
Becky has Laurie
Melissa has Trish
Justin has Andrea
Laurie has Josh
Will has Justin
Trish has Leah
Catherine has Will
Chris has Catherine
Leah has Becky
Josh has Chris
Andrea has Jere

Happy shopping and the following is my Christmas Wish List. (JK)
Love to all!
