Summer Plans?

Hey, what’s everybody planning for the summer? We’d like to come out to AZ so the kids can see Grandma and Grandpa, but we want to do it later in the summer so we can take them to a dance on the rez. (Sorry Ti, can you put off graduating till then?) When does Matt come home?

Even with the deal on airfare, all things considered (air, car, food, accommodations, even with leaving two kids behind) we definitely won’t be able to do both the AZ trip AND the wedding. Since Malachi and Amelia wouldn’t be able to make the TX trip to see anybody, we’re doing AZ instead. (Sorry Billy & Amy)

Is anyone (besides Josh and Andrea) planning on being in AZ this summer? Anyone? Anyone?

And what’s the family member quota our Freeman clan has to meet before we can start having family reunions? I nominate Catherine to chair the committee!

  1. We second that nomination!! Cas would be great! We should start having reunions, even if not annually. We could have them every other year if that would help us all in saving for the trip. Great idea, Justin!

And wait a minute. . .are you talking about going to AZ THIS summer, 2009? (Isn’t summer over for everyone?? Our kids are in school and we thought yours was too. Hmmm.) Why not just go out to TX in November to support your brother and plan on a trip to AZ NEXT summer (2010) when we all will have had enough time to save up to join you. . .then you’ll be able to see more of the family. (You aren’t really going to bail on Steve and Amy, are you guys, when you don’t HAVE to? Unless you think Mom and Dad are going somewhere. . . .) Or what about going to AZ around Thanksgiving next year, once Matt’s home and Ti’s been to BYU long enough to have great stories to share with everyone? The rez dances aren’t going to stop anytime soon, are they? What do you and Laurie think? What does everyone else think?

  2. I’m planning on being in AZ some time next summer, and hopefully that time would be when you guys are out too. Amy has been bugging me about going to see a dance for a while now. I’m all for the whole family reunion idea and second Cass’s nomination! :P

  3. Cass, I think you’ve been asked to chair because you live here and you aren’t married, so that makes you “free” (because of course you have nothing else going on) to take the time to organize something.

As for having a reunion, there would be rooms for people to stay in at mom and dad’s house if the boys would actually take all their stuff out of their room and once Ti moves out if she’ll do the same. Matt gets a little lee-way for being on a mission. But still. I can tell you as soon as I moved out, I didn’t have a room anymore. And I took all of my stuff with me except for a few boxes, which were boxed up and put into closets (which I later got on subsequent visits home).

Anywho, there’d be at least a couple rooms at mom and dad’s, plus the hide-a-beds. Plus we have the back room here at our house and a hide-a-bed and also an air mattress. And I suppose if people wanted, they could go camp out in the caves or something.

So there you go, room and board would be free for the first several families who claim the spaces. . . First part of your reunion organization done, Cass! : )
