It’s a girl!

Hey ya’ll!

As you should have guessed from the title, we found out that we’re having a little girl! That will be four nieces in a row since Nina. And there will be more nieces than nephews.

Anyway, here’s some pictures from the latest ultrasound. Hover you mouse over each thumbnail to see the title, and click the thumbnail to see/download the larger image. Enjoy!

Modern day lingo

No, I am not talking about an updated, modern day, 20 cow movie. I’m talking about how the kids of Nick’s generation are already hip to the latest internet lingo. Nick knows that the word for putting something up on your blog is a ‘post’. And that a blog is a place you can record things that happened, thoughts you had, opinions, and such. Well, at this evening’s FHE, Becky talked about the word ‘remember’ and how President Kimball mentioned it was one of the most important words in the dictionary. When she asked what was something we could do now to help us remember something in the future, Nick said, “We could post it in our journal.”

Michigan Challenge

In an almost unprecedented move, I’ve actually posted some pictures within 24 hours of taking them. We went to the Howell balloon festival yesterday (officially the Michigan Challenge Balloonfest). They’ve got a ton of shows, events, exhibits, a carnival, etc. We’ve gone before, but we’ve never stayed for the evening festivities, mainly including the balloons ‘glowing’ after dark and the night time jump by some skydivers. So we decided yesterday to go later in the evening so we could catch the after dark stuff. Luckily, as you can see from the pictures, we ran into another family from the ward so the kids were able to entertain each other while waiting.

bex blog update

For those of you not keeping track (and why aren’t you), Becky has posted a couple of updates to her blog since we’ve been back from AZ. One of them has a few pictures from our adventures in the month of May. And not to fear, I am going to work on getting her 72-odd AZ pictures posted online soon for all to peruse.

I told you so

People may have heard me complain about how bad Metro Airport is in Detroit. Now mind you, the airport I’m talking about is the main one for Detroit, officially dubbed DTW (Detroit Wayne County), normally just referred to as Metro airport. It marginally improved when they built the new terminal a couple years back. But good luck using that terminal as that’s only for Northwest and Delta. Most other carriers are still in the ancient terminal. And by ancient, I mean the thing feels like it’s been around since airports were invented. It’s old and good luck finding where your baggage carousel will be. I feel bad for first time visitors to the old terminal because that’s the first impression of Detroit you’re going to get when you stop off the plane.

So among other things, I personally consider it the worst airport I’ve ever experienced. Imagine my surprise when I discovered my opinion was backed by some research. I found an article the other day by USNews describing the 47 most miserable airports. I clicked the link, curious to see where good ole DTW stood. Wow, imagine my ‘surprise’ when it’s sitting right there on top of the list.
