From: Elder Joshua Freeman Subject: Dainty Infinitude Date: 2 May 2005 3:24:03 PM EDT ĮHola! This week was pretty good. We had ManuelÕs baptism on Saturday, and it went really well. The only bad thing was that for some reason, our power went out on Friday night, just in our apartment, not even in the apartment below us, and didnÕt come back until Saturday afternoon. Weird. On Monday night, we went and read a little with Mirta. Then we went by EverÕs and talked about the importance of prayer, especially if you want to know that the Book of MormonÕs true. After that, we tried talking to a few other people who all werenÕt home, so we went and had a little charla with Celina and Miguela and their families. That went pretty well, then we came home. On Tuesday, we had our normal Zone Meetings. After we were done, we went and ate at Pizza Hut, then came home. We went and set up a cita with a couple of people, then went and looked for an inactive from the ward directory. It took us a while to find the house, and when we did, we discovered the guy moved. But we taught a lesson 1 to his uncle, so that was pretty good. After that, we went and talked with Alberto a little bit, then went by ManuelÕs and went together to the church for his baptismal interview. It was kinda cloudy and rainy again, so we thought that nobody would come to Noche de Rama again, but a few people did. Elders GutiŽrrez and Womack came to do the interview, and everything went fine, so we were happy. And after that, we came home. On Wednesday, we did divisions with Amambay, and Elder Higbee went with Elder GutiŽrrez, and I stayed here with Elder Womack. HeÕs from Idaho, and heÕs got a little over a year in the mission. We went first to SandraÕs house and talked with them a little bit. Then we tried to visit a lot of other people without any luck, so that was no fun. So we came home to eat and study. In the afternoon, we went and got fallar-ed a couple of times, then looked for a reference that we had gotten. But itÕs in the next-door area, we discovered after a long search. Then we went to BernardoÕs and talked about the importance of authority in the church, and he understood pretty well because we applied it to being a referee- fans canÕt just come out on the field and make their own calls. But he hasnÕt quite made the connection between there being a church with the authority and the importance of being a member of that church. So weÕll keep working on that. After that, we went by Ver—nicaÕs and talked with her and asked her to do the closing prayer at the baptism. Then we went to Roberto y NimiaÕs (lesson 1 from last Tuesday) and taught them the lesson 2. They accepted it all but said theyÕre not sure enough to get baptized yet. After that, we went and got our clothes and tried visiting a couple of people that werenÕt home. So we took the ropa home and then went and visited the Hna ēngela and her son Pedro, who are members more-or-less active. And then we came home. On Thursday morning, we un-divided, and Elder Higbee and I went and looked for a couple of inactives, and talked with a couple of them. That was the whole morning. In the afternoon, we went to LourdesÕ and read with her. Her son Manuel turned 1 on Saturday. Anyway, after that, we went and visited the Flia Alderete, then tried visiting a lot of other people that werenÕt home. We were looking for a contact that we met a few weeks ago, and they werenÕt home, so we clapped at their neighborsÕ house and they invited us in and we taught them a lesson 1. It went pretty well. So thatÕs always nice. After that, we went and talked with Silvio (who lives behind Roberto and Nimia), because he wasnÕt there when we talked to Roberto and Nimia on Wednesday. Then we went and talked with Carlos and Ada and invited them to the baptism on Saturday. Then we came home. On Friday, we went and visited an inactive member named Walter that lives out by the limit of our area. And we also talked a little with Carlos B. Then we came home and made fried rice for lunch. It came out pretty well. In the afternoon, we went to visit Carlos A. and talked a little with him. Then we got fallar-ed a couple of times, then went and talked with Ever about coming to church. He said he would, but he didnÕt. After that, we buscar-ed a little and set up a couple of citas. We went by Sixto and MatildeÕs (the inactive lady and her ŅhusbandÓ we talked to on Monday night), but he wasnÕt home, so we just talked with her and her kids. After that, we went and talked a little with Miguel and Techy. Then we tried to visit a few more people, then came home. On Saturday morning, we went and cleaned/filled the font, then went to ManuelÕs and talked about the baptismal service and read Moroni 6 with him. Then we went and made the program, then came home and ate and made cake for the baptism. In the afternoon, we went and talked with Roberto and Nimia and invited them to church again and they said theyÕd come but didnÕt. Then we talked with a lady that we met on Thursday whose brother-in-law is an inactive. And after that, we went and talked with Isidro and Gloria (the family that we met on Thursday night. They had read a little, so we explained a little more and invited them to keep reading and praying. Then we talked to a couple other people, then went and got some cups, then went to the capilla and set up chairs and stuff. Manuel and Luc’a and MarizaÕs mom and little brother and sister came from Thompson, and the Asistentes came. It was a good service, and everything went without any problem. And afterwards, we cleaned up and came home. On Sunday, we went to church. The confirmation went fine, and there were quite a few people and we had a really good testimony meeting. And all the meetings were good. After church, we ate and planned. Then we went and talked with a less-active member, then went and talked with Ever. He seems to understand things, but says he doesnÕt have time right now to go to church. So thereÕs not much we can do. After that, we went by a couple other peoplesÕ houses, then went to the church for Correlation Meeting, but only Edgar showed up. He got his mission call this week, heÕs going to Montevideo, Uruguay. So thatÕs cool. He leaves in June. So then we went and visited Pedro and ēngela, because they live right by the church and didnÕt come today. She was sick. Then we went and took our ropa to the Gonz‡lezÕ, then went by and talked to the Flia R’os, then came home. So that was our week. This morning, we went to Centro and played basketball and soccer and had fun. This week is Zone Conference (on Thursday), so that should be good. Before I forget, the real date that IÕll be coming home will be the 21” of June. That is, IÕll leave here the 21” and get there around noon on the 22”, I think. So, yeah. Also, did you ever get the package I sent a while ago? ItÕs been 5 or 6 weeks, so IÕm kinda concerned, because it had a lot of stuff in it. Also, when do I have to apply to BYU? Just wondering. Also, seeing as how this Sunday is MotherÕs Day, itÕs time to talk. The number to call is whatever code to get into Paraguay, then 971-356-677. WeÕre 3 hours ahead now, so you should probably call around 1:00 your time, or whenever you get out of church. Yeah. Thanks everyone for everything. WeÕll talk to some of you on Sunday, and the rest of you, a little further in the future. I Love You Guys!!! Love, Josh
