From: Elder Joshua Freeman Subject: I got to see Conference this time!!! Date: 4 April 2005 2:50:25 PM EDT ÁHola! This week was change week, but we didnÕt get a change. But everybody else in the zone did. I was really grateful to get to see General Conference, since in October, I didnÕt get to see or hear any of it. We got to go to almost all of the sessions, so that was really good. Plus weÕre in the same stake as It‡ Enramada, so I got to see a lot of people from there, which was really neat. It was rainy and cold all weekend, so that affected the attendance, which was too bad. But anyway, on to the week. On Monday night, we tried visiting a lot of people without any luck. We did talk with Jaime and Cristina about references, and they said theyÕd talk with a family that lives next to them. So that was good. After that, we went and talked to a guy named Carlos and his daughter Ada (11 or 12 years old). WeÕd met him before in the house of another investigator, but we just recently found his house. We talked to him about the Libro de Morm—n and the importance of prophets. He had found the thought of modern-day prophets pretty intriguing. The charla went pretty well. And after that, we came home. On Tuesday morning, we had Zone Meetings. The Zone is comprised of 6 areas, us, Elders GutiŽrrez and Smith in Amambay (which is a ward), Hermanas Anderson and Suarez in Rama Centro, Elders Worthen and Wade in Rama Obrero, Elders Ray and Fern‡ndez in Sajonia (which is a ward), and Hermanas Curtis and Aguero, also in Sajonia. The meetings were pretty normal, except Elders Ray and Fern‡ndez werenÕt there because Elder Fern‡ndez had to go to some training something or other before going home. After the meetings, we all went and ate Lomito çrabes, which were really good. Then we came home. In the afternoon, we got fallar-ed a lot, so we had time to meet a new lady and teach her a lesson 1, which was hard, because she had to comment on everything we said. But she was nice at least. After that, we went and met a couple other people and got fallar-ed more. Then we went to the church for Noche de Rama. It was acting like it was going to rain, but didnÕt, but not many people came anyway. So that was that. On Wednesday, we visited Carlos Ayala and read with him. Then we had time to make contacts, so we did, then came home for lunch. In the afternoon, we went and read a little with Lourdes. That went well. Then we went to ViviÕs and she talked more about the problems sheÕs having. SheÕs not really progressing, but we were going to give her one more week to see how she did. After that, we talked with a couple more investigators briefly. Then we went by the Flia AldereteÕs (an inactive family) and it was the HnaÕs birthday, so we visited with them a little. Then we met some new people and also I met Carlos and Sonia Aguilar, another new member family. They have a 2 year-old daughter named Liz. After that, we looked for another couple of people but they werenÕt available, so we came home. On Thursday morning, we talked with a guy the Elders had met before and gave him a lesson 1. It went okay. Then we met an inactive guy, then went to LizÕ to make sure she knew about General Conference. Then we had lunch. After that, we got fallar-ed by a lot of people, but did talk with Ram—n, whoÕs the husband of Graciela, who we talked to last week at Jaime and CristinaÕs house. That went really well, and he said theyÕd try to come to Conference, but they didnÕt. Then we talked with the Flia R’os, the new members, about references. After that, we went to the Gonz‡lezÕ house and taught Manuel the first part of lesson 4. That went really well. And after that, we came home. On Friday, we went and talked with Sandra, the new member, and also their maid, whose name is Rosa and who lives in Capiata, but is here during all the week. Then we went and talked with a member named Julieta (23 or so) and invited her to talk with Lourdes with us. Then we had lunch with the Flia R’os and met their daughter Joanna (18) and her daughter BelŽn. I guess they live right by them. Anyway, in the afternoon, we went and taught the lesson 2 to Lourdes and Roquelina and invited them to Conference. After that, we got fallar-ed and talked with Dani, whoÕs 23 or so, and is the brother of the Hna. R’os. He already has the 1¡ lesson, so we read with him, and it went well. After that, we talked with some investigators who are moving to Argentina in a few weeks. Everyone was watching the news, on account of the Pope being sick. After that, we went to the houses of a couple more people, but they werenÕt home, so we came home. On Saturday morning, we visited the Flia Alderete and talked with their daughter Rebeca. Then we went by another family that we met last week, but they couldnÕt talk. Then we came home and ate lunch. To be able to go to Conference on Saturday, we had to take investigators, and we had 4 people that we could possibly take to the 1:00 (here) session, but they all fallar-ed us, so we didnÕt get to go. So after studying, we went and talked with Vivi and told her weÕd tell Miguela and Mariza (her friends that are members) to come by and get her Sunday morning. Then we went to ManuelÕs, and he came with us, in a shirt and tie even. And we met his mom, who lives in Thompson. Anyway, we went to Conference and it was really good. Then we came home and had time to make contacts. We tried talking with a lot of people, but no one wanted to talk to us, so we headed home. But a couple blocks from our house, Elder Higbee decided we should try one more house, and we did, and the lady invited us in without us even saying anything, and we taught her the lesson 1. So that was nice, and a good lesson in not giving up. So we went home much more happy than we would have been. On Sunday at 9:00, they showed the Priesthood session again, since live it happened at 9:00 last night. That was good. We stayed there until the 4¡ session started, and it turns out the members that were supposed to bring investigators with them didnÕt even come. So that was too bad. It was nice seeing everyone from It‡ Enramada, though. After the 4¡ session, we came back to get Lourdes and Roquelina and Manuel (LourdesÕ son). The last session was really good too, and after it was over, we came home. We had to take our ropa to the Hna Celina, so we did that, and also talked a little with Manuel. This morning, everyone came to Rama Centro. The Institute center is attached to the capilla, and they have Ping Pong and pool and foosball there, so that was fun playing. Also us Elders played soccer, and that was really fun. Then we all went and ate at PancholoÕs. Then we came home. So, that was it for my week. It was pretty good. We set a baptismal date with Lourdes for the 16¡ of this month, so weÕre excited for that. And ManuelÕs getting baptized at the end of the month. So things are going pretty well here. ThatÕs it from here, I guess. I Love You Guys!!! Love, Josh P.S. Mom, IÕm sending that transcript request thing today. Just so you know.
