From: Elder Joshua Freeman Subject: Conference week Date: 15 November 2004 6:34:17 AM EST ÁHola! How are you all doing? This week was more or less normal. We had Zone Conference on Thursday, so that was pretty neat. It rained again a couple of times this week, and that wasnÕt so neat. RainÕs not as fun when you have to work in it. But anyway... On Monday, the Elders from Villeta and GuarambarŽ had to come in and give me their proselyting numbers and stuff because we donÕt have Zone Meetings the same week as Zone Conference. That was pretty much the only unnormal thing. In the afternoon, the Klevens came down on their way back from Asunci—n. ThereÕs a guy that lives in our area whose name is Blas that does little clay sculptures, and he did Nativity scenes and stuff and then one day the missionaries found him and talked with him and bought some stuff and gave him some other ideas, and now he also does people from the Book of Mormon. He does a pretty good job. So we took the Klevens to his house and they placed some orders with him. Then they left and we went out to work. We went to the Flia. QuintanaÕs and taught them a lecci—n 2, and that went pretty well. After that, we went to the Flia. MattesichÕs and started the Red de Contactos with them. Then they made sandwiches and brought us home. That was nice. On Tuesday morning, we just worked like normal. We went to the Flia. Mart’nezÕ and read a little with them about the importance of the scriptures. Then we went and talked to a couple other people and did a little clapping with not much luck. And then we went to lunch. In the afternoon, we went to RuthÕs and talked with her about praying and reading the scriptures. After that, we got fallar-ed by the Flia. Estigarribia, so we decided to go to Las Piedras, which is a little place about 20 minutes toward Asunci—n which is where our branch president lives, and a few other members. So we hopped on a bus out there and went and visited them, and Pte. Silvero took us to visit a less-active guy named Lu’s. Then we came home and went to LinoÕs, and read with him from the Libro de Morm—n. After that, we got fallar-ed a few times, and then went to the Flia. CaballeroÕs, but Antonio wasnÕt home, so we came home. On Wednesday, we tried visiting a lot of people without any luck, so we did some clapping and got in a charla 1. That was interesting. We had lunch with the Flia. L—pez and then came home and studied. In the afternoon, we went to the QuintanaÕs and talked to them about tithing. Then we went and talked to an inactive guy and a few other random people before going to the church for Consejo de Rama. That was pretty normal, and we talked to Pte. Silvero for a while, and then went back to the Flia. CaballeroÕs, but then it started to get really windy like it does when itÕs about to rain really hard, so we went home before it started so that we wouldnÕt get stuck there. And sure enough, it rained a lot all night and the next morning too. On Thursday morning, we got up early and went to Zone Conference. It was with Zones 3 and 4. Elder Nichols directed, since it was his last one. Zone Conference was pretty neat. All the Zone Leaders did presentations about ÒPreach My GospelÓ, and so did Elder Karn. And of course the Gavarrets talked. There are a lot of people going home this change, so weÕll be losing missionaries again. So theyÕre going to be closing a few more areas, which theyÕve already had to do with a lot. So thatÕs too bad. It was good though. After that, we had to buy a few things and then finally got home a bit after 7:00. We went out to The Flia. Mattesich and checked up on their Red de Contactos and talked with them about a few of the people on their list. Then we came home. On Friday, we went and gave the Flia. Mart’nez the 1» lecci—n again for after their baptism. Then we dropped by a couple peoplesÕ houses and looked for inactives from the ward list, but they had moved. We had lunch with the Flia. Largosta and then we came home. In the afternoon, we went out to RuthÕs and talked with her about tithing and fasting. That went pretty well. After that, we got fallar-ed again, so we went and visited Clides and Milciades, except Clides wasnÕt there because she was at someoneÕs house working. After that, we went by LinoÕs house and talked with him, and then went to the Flia. VegaÕs house and made tacos with them. They were pretty good. On Saturday morning, we had to take my bike in to get a tire fixed, and while we were waiting, we went and checked out the new capilla inside. ItÕs coming along and is supposed to be done the beginning of December. WeÕll see. When my bike was done, we went out to a place called CaÕaguazuÕi thatÕs like 7 kilometers down the highway. ThereÕs a bunch of low-income housing out there, and we were looking for inactives and a reference. We found the inactivesÕ houses, but one had moved and the other went back to the Catholic church. We did get in a pretty good charla 1. Looking for the reference, we got pretty close to the boundary with the North mission, but weÕre not sure where it is. Anyway, we then had to come back to lunch at the Flia. Fern‡ndezÕ, and we made it in like 15 minutes. We were going pretty fast. In the afternoon, we went to the church for Correlation meeting, and then helped them have a choir practice for when the new capilla is inaugurated. It was interesting. I never really learned how to change my voice to match a note, so I donÕt know how to teach someone else to do it. Any tips? Anyway, after that, we went and got fallar-ed and then went to JavierÕs and talked with his mom and read with her. After that, we went and talked to a couple other people, and visited the Flia. Caballero and shared a little with them and then came home. Sunday was pretty normal. We spoke in church, and that went alright. Other than that, the meetings were normal. While we were home for lunch, it started to rain, and rained on and off the rest of the day. In the afternoon, we went to BlasÕ to watch the Restoration DVD, but the DVD player didnÕt work, so we just taught him the lecci˜n 1, and that went pretty well. After that, we went and visited an inactive named Nicanor, thatÕs friends with Nilson and his family. After that, we went and taught another lesson 1 to a guy named Rodney that the missionaries had talked to like a year and a half ago. After that, we went to JavierÕs and talked with Martina about prayer and doing it right. Then we visited a couple other people and then came home and planned. ThatÕs it. Today we only have a half P-Day, because on Thursday we get to go to the temple, so thatÕs pretty cool. This is already the last full week of the change, so thatÕs pretty weird. But yeah. Thanks everyone for everything. Oh, and I still need to know about applying to BYU too. So, yeah. Thanks everyone for everything, and Happy Birthday early to Melissa. I Love You All!!!! Love, Josh
