From: Elder Joshua Freeman Subject: Boy was it ever wet Date: 5 April 2004 2:42:49 PM EDT ÁHola! So yeah. I noted at the beginning of this week that it hadn't rained in a while, but as you might have guessed, that changed later on in the week. But yeah. We'll get to that when I get there. Last Monday night, we had a charla with Julio CŽsar. It went okay, but I'm still never suer how much he really gets. And after that we had a Noche de Hogar with the Aquino family. And the rest. Yeah. On Tuesday morning, we had our meetings like normal in the morning, and had lunch and then came home and studied. Then we went to an inactive Hermana's (her name is Irene) house and met her kids and played a couple of games of checkers. It's little bit different the way they do it, but yeah. After that, we met another inactive, and got fallar-ed on a couple of charla 1s again. And then we actually taught one, which was good. It was with a family that the Hermanas had talked with before, and then they moved and are back again. It went pretty well. After that, we talked to a couple other investigators, and met one of them, Joni, for the first time. On Wednesday, we went to an inactive guy's house and he wasn't home, and we went and talked to Nimia y Noelia, who we taught the charla 1 to last week, and also had to look for postcards for something of the mission, but didn't find any. And then we had lunch with the Flia. Ram’rez. After that, we had to go to the oficina for entrevistas with Pte. Gavarret. That went pretty well. After we got home, we finally met the last of our investigators. Her name is F‡tima, and she's 13. And after that, we went out looking for a couple people/streets that aren't on our map. Then we went to the church for Consejo de Rama, and then went home. On Thursday morning, we went out to visit an investigator and found out that her family moved to Luque. That's in the north mission. But yeah, that was interesting to find out. After that, we went to Hna. Irene's house with Hno. Ortiz (the 2ˇ counselor) to fix her water line that goes to her house. Temporarily anyway. Then we came home and had lunch and studied. In the afternoon, we went to a plaza that we have here, that's in front of the Catholic church, and we taught a 1st charla to a guy that lives in „emby. Then we went and visited some members, and an investigator, and then went and made more contacts in the plaza. After that, we got fallar-ed and then tried to talk to other people that weren't home, and then finally went to Joni's and read a little from the Libro de Morm—n with him. That is all. On Friday morning, it rained a little bit, but not much. We got fallar-ed on a charla 1, then went to the farther side of our area looking for people and found out that there's a few streets that aren't on our map, some that are on the map but don't exist, and some that do exist, but with a different name than what it says on the map. So that was a grand adventure. But then we went back and actually taught that charla 1, and it went pretty well. Then we came home and had lunch. In the afternoon, we mostly talked to people about General Conference, seeing who could go and when. Some didn't know and others weren't home. Oh well. So then we went to the church for Noche de Rama. It's been dysfunctional, but this was to be the first of the new start, on a new night, and it was going to be big. Going to be. Elder Workman and I got to the church about 10 minutes early, and we were watching some pretty cool lightning, and then stopped on account of a huge black wall of clouds and rain coming. And rain it did. We were pretty sure that no one would come, not even the other Elders. But, Pte. Borba came, with his son, and then the other Elders came, and then the Relief Society and Primary presidents and their kids. They had a car. But in any case, we didn't have Noche de Rama, and they went home, and we worked on getting a taxi to take us home, which didn't happen. But we did call one, he just didn't come. But some nice fellow with a van gave us a ride to the other Elders' house, and we ate a little and by that time the rained had stopped and we went home. And boy were we ever wet. On Saturday morning, we went out to talk to everyone about Conference, and some weren't awake and some weren't home, and then we went and had lunch with the Aquinos, and then went and talked to people again. Then we went and met the Laneris to be able to go to the capilla in Rama Centro (the Stake Center), since the only time I've been there was for the choir, and that was a rented bus. So we went and watched the first session, and then we had to come back to get investigators, and then went back for session 2. We were 4 hours apart, so the second session finished at 8:00, and by the time we got home, we got ready for bed. Sunday morning, we got to sleep in another hour (because of the time change, we moved back here in the southern hemisphere), but I still woke up at 5:30, then tried in vain to sleep more. I never thought that was something that would happen to me. Anyway, we did the same thing that we did on Saturday morning, and then went to centro and watched the Priesthood and 4ˇ sessions. There were actually a lot of people there, which was a little surprising. After that, we went home and got fallar-ed by a couple of people who had said that they would go, but then didn't. So we didn't get to go to the last session, because we had to have investigators. Oh well. Instead, we studied, and then went out and worked for a little bit, talking with various people, including an inactive lady that we met by chance. Then that was pretty much all. Today, we haven't really done much, and aren't planning on doing too much more. Until 6:00 anyway. So that will be nice. So, yeah. I hope you're all having fun in non-triple-digit temperatures. Actually it's mostly been just in the 90s. But still hot. Someday winter will get here. Well, it's not like winter winter, but cold(er) anyway. That's it from here, I Love You Guys!!! Love, Josh
